Sizing a roller chain off of tensile strength alone is not only dangerous but will disappoint when it comes to the desired service factor. Application Conditions - It is important to take a look at certain conditions such as temperature, corrosion, abrasion, and hours in operation. I've broken 35p too many times. Yes you can change the sprocket on the TAV. There is split ring on the back or a nyloc nut on the front. Thanks for lookin' Victor. I think the decision has been made for me. I doubt if I can rebuilt that GX for that kind of money.
It's been sitting out in the weather in the neighbors junk pile for the last 3 or 4 years so I had my doubts. I've got about three dozen irons in the fire right now so I don't want to tear into that Honda at this time. I ordered the Predator and I'll just use the TVA-2 with the standard setup that you all have been using.
I won't know what the TAV-2 sprocket looks like till I order the unit so I don't know exactly what type of hub it has in it. But I could re-machine it to fit if I had to. Gonna order one in the morning along with an axle. I think you can say if you want a 40 chain or a 35 chain when you order the TAV. The 40 will have the 10 tooth sprocket. But as I said, maybe I could re-machine one to fit from Azusa or They will tend to "s t r e t c h" after a ride or two, leaving you to make some adjustments to take the slack out of the chain.
Basic Performance Chain will be the next step up. Pre-stretched and oiled, these chains will last much longer than stock chain. If you're running any type of performance parts in your engine, we recommend atleast the Basic Performance Chain.
