When is girls season 2 finale
On one hand: Oh, Hannah. Most of us learned how to take care of broken glass some time between fourth grade and college, and you are in your twenties. The show is called Girls , not Invalids. On the other: This statement helps explain the actions of the dissimilar ensemble characters we've grown accustomed to seeing every week.
Let's take Ray and Shoshanna first, because despite Shoshanna's whining and all of Ray's sad-bastard, fk-the-world protestations, they're the only couple worth rooting for, and they're a mess. Mid-coitus, Shoshanna complains that Ray has no ambition and that it's "a real issue" in their relationship. This prompts Ray to approach his boss a Colin Quinn cameo! After calling him out on being at work on an off-day and snarking at Shoshanna's croissant-shaped bags, Ray's boss tells him his girlfriend doesn't want a Latin scholar but someone who can keep buying her bread-shaped accessories.
He offers Ray a job managing a new location. But his inflated new title District Chief Logistics and Operations Supervisor doesn't particularly impress Shoshanna the next time we see them. She claims to be excited, but tells him that their relationship isn't working and that he needs therapy. When Ray protests, she fires back in one of Zosia Mamet's better performances on the show yet:.
Seriously, you hate everything! You hate the sound of children playing and you hate all your living relatives and you hate people who wear sunglasses, even during the day, and you hate going to dinner, which you know I love, you hate colors, pillows, ribbons, you hate everything.
I can't be the only thing you like. And maybe I can deal with your black soul better when I'm older, but I can't handle it now so maybe you have to go change and then we can be in love in another time.
Of course, Ray counters that Shosh might need to change, and, life-size cardboard cutout in hand, storms out of her apartment. It's clear here that neither of them really wants to fix the other. Then we have Marnie, who finally gets what she wants in Charlie.
He might be rich and successful now, but what has she really gained from this rekindled relationship other than a sense of safety during a hard period in her life?
Since they broke up, Marnie has been fighting other girls for his attention and, now that she has it, is there anything else to strive for? The one character I felt satisfied with during this finale was Shoshana. As much as I loved her relationship with Ray in season one, the final moments prove that taking a break was the best choice she could have made.
Marnie has had the worst year of her life. After they have a little bit of scene over Bushwick mimosas, Marnie finally lets it all hang out. And he agrees. And Charlie plays the part of the skeptical, but totally lovelorn Sally. It looks like a makeup ad. Meanwhile, Shoshanna is still unhappy with Ray, but she has to go through a few phases before getting to the actual breakup.
Last week she was still reeling over the guilt of making out with a random hot doorman and started to focus in on what bothered her about her boyfriend. This week she finally confronts him about his lack of ambition.
Ray sort of tries to correct it. When he goes back to Shoshanna with the news about his new position, she finally does what needed to be done: She breaks up with him. Her reasons seem totally valid and surprisingly self-aware. Or my stalker ex-boyfriend? It's not like any of them want to talk to me. I don't blame them, because I cut off all my fucking hair! And now you're off somewhere, just living it up wearing a crop top, you probably got your vagina pierced, you're not answering your phone and you're forgetting about everyone who's fucking it up here.
