Where is maui

Known for its dry, sunny climate, South Maui is one of the two most popular island regions for Maui visitors the other being West Maui. Maalaea is a peaceful little village situated on a scenic harbor and a three-mile beach extending to Kihei. Kihei is a bustling town loaded with shopping, dining, and activity options, boasting a series of wide beaches and well-equipped beach parks.

Wailea and Makena are beautifully manicured resort communities featuring upscale accommodations, shopping, and golf courses on prime beachfront land. West Maui is isolated from the rest of the island by a long stretch of two-lane oceanfront highway that is so close to the water cars often get sprayed by the waves!

Lahaina , once a historic whaling port, is a charming waterfront town offering delightful inns, restaurants, art galleries, and shops.

The Kaanapali Beach Resort area is a lovely, master-planned development featuring well-known resorts, condos, golf, and a shopping center lining the beach.

Honokowai, Kahana and Napili are smaller, more rural communities stretching several miles along the coastline, featuring public beach parks, mom-and-pop stores and a wide array of accommodations. Kapalua is a beautiful resort community known for its world-class golf and luxury accommodations. Central Maui encompasses the towns of Kahului and Wailuku. Mostly composed of farmland, Lanai is gorgeous and peaceful.

Scuba diving at the Cathedrals is world-renowned. Maalaea harbor sits on the southern edge of the valley. With a few restaurants and a world-class Aquarium, Maalaea Harbor is a great place to leave on a boat trip from. Maalaea is centrally located making for a short trip from most spots on the island. This quaint paniolo cowboy town is 15 minutes up from Paia Town and has excellent shopping and restaurants. This is a great town to stop at on the way to or from Haleakala Crater or Kula area.

Makena is made up of a mixture of perfect beaches, rugged volcanic coastline, and lush tropical land. You'll find fewer places to stay down here with large expanses of untouched natural landscape.

One of the most beautiful areas on Maui, Makena is the southern most point you can visit on Maui. Home of some of the highest sea cliffs in the world, Molokai is long in waterfalls and history.

Previously known for its forced leper colony, Molokai now is used primarily as farmland and home to a very peaceful local community. Molokini is a dormant volcanic cinder cone off the coast of South Maui famous for its pristine scuba diving and snorkeling.

It offers pretection from swell and incredible visibilty and ocean life. Known for its small town charm and hippy inhabitants, Paia is one of the better places to visit on Maui. With dozens of small boutiques and restaurants, the ambiance in this little coastal town is positive and warm.

Wailea took over from Kaanapali as far as large resort areas are concerned. You'll find pristine beaches, high-end resorts, ritzy shopping, fine dining restaurants, and perfectly landscaped grounds in Wailea. The capital of Maui, Wailuku is the cultural center of the island.

Downtown Wailuku has a great theatre, some fantastic restaurants, and plenty of shops. Wailuku is experiencing somewhat of a renaissance, growing into a beautiful, richer place to visit. Waikapu sits at the base of The West Maui mountains, in central Maui. Hana Hana is famous for the road leading to it, " The Road to Hana. Honolua Bay One of the most beautiful spots on Maui can be found in the far upper west at Honolua Bay.

I've just rebuilt the site and have over pages left to go through for final fixes. Maui and the other islands of Hawaii are in the middle of the north half of the Pacific Ocean. Maui is miles west of San Francisco, miles west of Los Angeles, and miles east of Tokyo. Where is Maui relative to the other Hawaiian islands? It is second from the eastern end of the chain, between Oahu and the Big Island of Hawaii.
